Nana Meriwether is nothing short of a super-athlete. In high school, she earned a total of twelve varsity letters for her participation in volleyball, basketball, and track and field. She was also named Gatorade Player of the Year and Washington Post Player of the Year. For the last two years, Nana was captain of the UCLA volleyball team and a two-time All-American. Upon finishing her senior season, she went pro in Puerto Rico, and was invited to train with the U.S. Olympic volleyball team for the Pan-American games in Brazil and the next Olympics. It’s easy to see where she got her athletic acumen, Nana’s father, Dr. Delano Meriwether, was the first African American to attend Duke and an Olympic athlete featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated Magazine.

In addition to her athletic achievements, Meriwether maintained an academic record that repeatedly landed her on the Director’s Honor Roll as she majored in political science with a concentration in international relations.  Meriwether recently set her sights on law school where she intends to study corporate law.

She also launched a non-profit organization dedicated to aiding orphans who have lost parents due to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Nana plans to travel to South Africa in October to visit two of the orphanages that she has worked with. Her goal is to help make Malibu more globally aware of the epidemic hugely affecting so many in Africa.

MISS TEEN MALIBU 2008

Congratulations to  Miss Malibu 2008 Greer Grammer

Greer Grammer - Miss Teen Malibu 2008

A lifelong resident of Malibu, Greer Grammer is a 15-year-old student currently attending Idyllwild Arts Academy, where she is majoring in musical theatre. Mature beyond her years, Grammer showed profound generosity as a child. She has raised money for the American Heart Association since an early age, when a friend’s uncle died suddenly from a heart attack at a young age, and even asked for donations instead of birthday gifts at her eleventh birthday party. Ever since then, she has been donating to the organization in his name. Greer has also been involved with other charities such as Operation Iraqi Children founded by Gary Sinise.

When she is not surfing, spending time with friends and family, or participating in community activities, Grammer is proactively taking steps in pursuit of a career that incorporates her passion for acting, singing, and dancing. She is looking forward to representing her hometown at the Miss California Teen USA pageant in Hollywood this November.
