Kristen Bradford – Pageant Founder/Director
Kristen Bradford

Kristen Bradford grew up in Portland, Oregon and moved to California after high school to attend Pepperdine University where she obtained her BA in International Management in 2000 and MA in Public Policy in 2003.  While at Pepperdine, Kristen competed in the Miss Oregon USA Pageant, placing as second runner-up in 1998 and 2001. 

She also competed locally at the Miss Greater Los Angeles pageant and went on to represent the city of Malibu at the Miss California USA 2003.   After several years behind the scenes as choreographer, stage manager, and assistant director, she became the founder and director of the Miss Malibu Pageant, a preliminary to Miss California USA. 

Kristen built the pageant from the ground up, and after two years of successfully running all aspects of this live production, she went on to work as an Event Coordinator for the Muscular Dystrophy Association where she focused on planning large scale social and fundraising events.  Kristen left MDA to start her own full service event planning company here in Los Angeles, where she has produced many high profile events with well-known clients such as Robert Altman and Marilyn Manson.

OUR MISSION

The Miss Malibu and Miss Teen Malibu Pageants hopes to:

  • Offer a venue where young women in the local community from 15 to 26 years old can grow personally in poise, confidence, goal setting, public speaking and communication skills, physical fitness and self-discipline.

  • To open doors and provide career and educational opportunities, not only to the winner, but also to all the young women who participate.

  • To promote our sponsors throughout the city.

  • To promote involvement of contestants and title-holders in community service programs and charities.

PAGEANT HOSTS


Tami Farrell

Tami is a native of Southern Oregon.  In 2003, Tami was crowned Miss Teen USA, where she also was voted Miss Congeniality by her fellow delegates.  During her reign, she raised a record 21 million dollars for her charities, more than any teen titleholder in history.  Tami just finished recording her first demo CD and performed during PraiseFest Christian Cruise to the Bahamas, last June.  

Last fall she worked with Christian Recording artists, Sonic Flood, on a new CD project. A featured model nationally for Jovani, Everything But Water and Tadashi, Tami has been featured in magazines such as Ellegirl, YM, Surfer, Allure, Teen Vogue, and Star Magazines.  Tami attended the New York School for Film and Television and currently resides in Los Angeles where she is pursuing a career as an actress and writer.  She is currently working on her first book, a new pilot, as well as a weekly blog. She continues to chase her dreams and believes that, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams”.


Greg Plitt

Greg is currently on HGTV’s number one show “Design to Sell,” and was recently in “The Good Shepard” directed by Robert DeNiro.  Along with Ryan Seacrest, Mario Lopez and Apolo Anton Ohno, Greg was named by the nationally syndicated “Extra” television show as one of “America’s Most Eligible Bachelors”.  He was also featured on Good Morning America and the Tonight show with Jay Leno.  Greg is a United States Military Academy (West Point) graduate and former Army Ranger who took over the fitness modeling industry with over 75 covers to his credit. 

Greg landed the Underarmour Performance Apparel campaign, and is the face and body of Theirry Mugler’s latest fragrance campaigns: Angel Men and Ice Men.  Currently he is featured in an OLD SPICE national commercial and has three independent movies coming out this fall.  A two-time All American wrestler and pro-rated skydiver with over 800 jumps to date, Greg is constantly on the go with photo shoots, filming, acting auditions, and classes.  To learn more about Greg, visit his webpage at www.gregplitt.com

JUDGES

Candace Bowen

After several successful roles in TV and film, Candace decided to try her hand in producing and became an intern for the Women in Film, a non-profit organization created to empower, promote and mentor women in the entertainment industries.  Candace founded their monthly Malibu networking breakfast.  She is also the founder of the annual Women in Film Malibu Golf Classic, board member/executive committee officer and V.P. of membership for Women in Film.  She also served on the board of the Malibu Chamber of Commerce.  Her current project as executive producer of the feature film "CUTTIN DA MUSTARD" starring Sinbad,Charles Dutton, Keisha Knight Pulliman, and Debra Wilson. Written and Directed by Reed McCant. 


Christiana Capetillo

 Christiana Capetillo was blessed with a long career in modeling and commercials.  Raised in Calabasas, CA, she chose to use her God-given gift to travel the world.  She enjoyed traveling for numerous years and then returned back to her hometown to settle down a bit.  She now resides in Malibu with her husband Joe D'Amore.  They run a chain of restaurants called D'Amore's Pizza Connection throughout the Los Angeles area and Las Vegas.   Christiana also uses her time to work with non-profit organizations and any project that can better increase people’s awareness of God's presence in their lives


John Paola

John Paola is a staple in the community of Malibu.  He has been volunteering for the Malibu Little League, AYSO Soccer and Malibu High Booster Club Christmas tree lot for the last fifteen years.  John is one of the Board of Directors for the Malibu Kiwanis and the annual Chili Cook-off Coordinator, helping raise over $100k that is donated to local youth organizations each year.


Pam Keefe

Pam Keefe is a former Miss Arkansas and represented Arkansas in the National Pageant.  She has performed the duties of an event judge for many pageants and events including Miss Malibu 2005.  Today, Pam is a successful businesswoman who manages global accounts for Haworth, Inc., a multi-billion dollar office design and furniture company.  She travels worldwide and may be found most often on an international flight heading anywhere from Beijing to Budapest.   Pam has been a resident of Malibu for 15 years.

ENTERTAINMENT

Angela Gacad

Angela GacadAngela Gacad has created a wonderful life for herself since she moved to Malibu in 1999 and has shared her love for dance with the community ever since. She is an aspiring actress, dancer, and choreographer.

Angela has been dancing professionally since she was eight years old, has choreographed for Malibu High School muscials for six years, and has taught dance in Malibu for the past three years. She has trained and worked with LA's top choreographers in movies, tv, music videos, and commercials, and is proud to be apart of the Miss Malibu Pageant for a second time!

Lucia Iman

Lucia ImanLucia is a singer/pianist born in Sevilla, Spain, who performs at venues globally and has a range of credits as a recording artist. She is a Berklee College of Music and Malibu High School alumna. Music Connection Magazine calls her “a disarming performer and intriguing live act thanks to her natural talent. Iman shows obvious promise and she is someone to keep an eye on.”
